Your Questions, Answered

How do I know if I should start therapy?
When worries or fears become persistent, overwhelming or begin interfering with friendships, family life, activities, or everyday functioning, it may be time to seek support. Tess can help you better understand what you or your child is experiencing and determine whether therapy may be helpful.
Who does Tess work with?
Tess works with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety and related concerns. Her approach is tailored to each individual's developmental stage, personality, strengths, and goals.
What happens during the first appointment?
The first appointment is an opportunity to learn more about what you are experiencing, understand your concerns and goals, and determine how Tess can best help. For adolescents, Tess will meet with parents or caregivers as the first part of the evaluation process.
Will parents be involved in my child's therapy?
Parent involvement is often an important part of treatment, particularly for younger children. Tess works with parents and caregivers to help them understand anxiety, learn supportive strategies, and create an environment that helps their child make progress. The level of parent involvement will depend on the child's age, needs, and treatment goals.
How often will we meet?
Session frequency is determined based on each client's needs and treatment goals. Tess will discuss recommendations with you during the initial evaluation and throughout treatment. Tess also offers intensive treatment options, if there is a need.
Do you accept insurance, and what is the cost of therapy?
TMC Therapy is private pay. The practice can provide super-bills for you to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Please reach out with any questions about fees or insurance coverage.
